Description
The Hop Camp Vineyard Syrah, besides having been a historical agricultural producing farm over the last century, represents an important bit of history in the soil as well. On the label we have added in quotations, "Gravel Lense," a very rare soil type referred to as "Cortina." Over the eons the ancient river bed changed its course, depositing layers of gravel throughout the years at different depths, creating a rare and wonderful alluvial soil layered with these gravel lenses. This type of well drained soil is imperative in the successful production especially of high quality Syrah, as it is and as it controls the vigor of the vines.

"Inky ruby. Assertive, heady cassis, olive, floral and incense scents are strongly reminiscent of the northern Rhone. Extremely fresh red and dark berry flavors are complicated by candied violet, minerals and cracked pepper, with silky tannins adding structure. Turns more tangy with air, picking up sexy Asian spices that linger impressively on the finish. This is already delicious." - Josh Raynolds
